A Story of Love and Perseverance

Jose arrived from El Salvador in 1990 with a great dream — to support others. Through effort, perseverance, and faith, he built a new life in the United States and discovered his true purpose: helping others achieve their goals. For over 20 years, he has dedicated himself to guiding and supporting those who aspire to obtain their Nursing License in this country.

But it all began in 2002, when he met Ana.

She had just arrived from Colombia, a newly graduated Professional Nurse, full of dreams and hopes. Like many immigrants, she longed to work in her profession again, unaware of the challenges, barriers, and sacrifices she would have to face to make that dream come true. That’s when José came into her life — not only as a mentor, but also as a source of motivation, faith, and unwavering support.

With hard work, determination, and the belief that with God all things are possible, Ana completed the credentials evaluation, passed the English proficiency test, and obtained her Nursing License in 2006. Since then, she has worked in various areas — Intensive Care, Primary Care, and Emergency — always with the same passion that first brought her here.

Today, Ana and Jose walk together not only in life but also in purpose: helping others who, like Ana once did, dream of practicing their vocation in this land of opportunity. Their story is a living testimony that love, faith, and perseverance can truly transform lives.

Ana Ramirez Salazar, RN, BSN

Founder

I graduated from Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia in 2001 and began my nursing career working in Primary Care, the Intensive Care Unit, and the Emergency Department. These experiences shaped my dedication to patient care and strengthened my clinical foundation. As an internationally educated nurse, I personally completed the journey to obtain my nursing license in the United States. I understand the challenges, questions, and determination it takes to navigate this process. I founded International Nurses Pathway to support other nurses like me — providing clear guidance, honest support, and a smoother path toward achieving their professional goals in the U.S

Originally from El Salvador, I moved to the United States in 1990 and built my professional career through dedication and perseverance. I earned a degree in Dental Technology and developed a strong understanding of the professional standards in the U.S. Since 2005, I have been helping internationally educated nurses navigate the process of obtaining their nursing license in the United States. Through years of hands-on experience supporting nurses, I earned the equivalency to a bachelor’s degree — a reflection of my expertise and commitment to professional growth. As Co-Founder of International Nurses Pathway, I bring practical knowledge, personal experience, and a passion for guiding nurses with clarity and confidence.

My name is Shiromala Warnakulasooriya, RN, BSN, originally from Sri Lanka. I am deeply grateful for the invaluable guidance and support I received from Mr. Jose Amaya during one of the most important turning points in my life and career. Today, I am a licensed Registered Nurse with 13 years of professional experience. I am also proud to share that I will be graduating this July with a Master of Science in Nursing Administration. As I reflect on my journey, I can confidently say that achieving these milestones would have been extremely difficult without Mr. Amaya’s mentorship and direction. When I first began pursuing a nursing career, I felt uncertain and overwhelmed. I did not know where to begin or how to navigate the licensure process. Unfortunately, I was repeatedly told that without a proper license, I could not be hired, even for basic roles. It was discouraging and disheartening. Meeting Mr. Jose Amaya was truly life-changing. His knowledge, encouragement, and structured direction gave me clarity when I had none. Because of his mentorship, I was able to obtain my RN license and begin my professional journey. Over the past 13 years, I have built a meaningful career in nursing, and I am now advancing into leadership through my graduate studies.
